Hey! A bit about me… When I’m not fiddling around with resistors and circuits or gaming on my PC, I’m really an outdoors guy. I love getting lost in deep forests (that can’t happen often enough for me!) or being forced to climb up a waterfall because that’s the only way to get out of wherever I’m stuck at the moment.
One of the many unfortunate things about studying to be an engineer is that it rarely if ever gives you the time to take off on a weekend break with friends for some fresh air and good old-fashioned muscle stretching, so I don’t really get too many opportunities to use my camera on a crazily exhausting trek to some place I’ve never heard of (vacations with family don’t count, those are for chilling out and posh hotel rooms and good food). However, I do try to compensate during the vacations, and one of the fortunate things about studying to be an engineer is that our vacations are scheduled in the winter and in the monsoons. While that does mean we have to study while everyone else is playing football downstairs, it also gives us the best possible seasons of the year to get some good mountain action!
So here’s hoping you enjoy my sometimes tongue-in-cheek accounts of my exploits. If you enjoy trekking too, do get in touch, we can keep each other informed about all the different treks happening across Mumbai and maybe even land up on the same one sometime! Cheers!
““Remember what Bilbo used to say: It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.”” – JRR Tolkien in the Lord of the Rings
I almost forgot. Why Hobs Crk you ask. Well, if you’ve never read Calvin and Hobbes, you might as well not ask. If you have, there was this strip where Calvin makes a signboard that says “Calvin’s Creek” and when Hobbes asks him what he’s doing, he says he’s discovered a creek in the backyard and he was going to name it after him because he discovered it. When he goes to the creek, he sees a board already there with “Hobs Crk” written on it.
Ah well, it was funny in the strip. Whatever.
